Megan Fox’s Replacement: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Paramount’s wasting no time replacing Megan Fox in Transformers 3: by yesterday they had already narrowed down the field to three candidates, and as of this afternoon, one had been chosen. Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has apparently won the role over Sports Illustrated model (and Andy Roddick wife) Brooklyn Decker and former model Sarah Wright. Notice [...]

Megan Fox “Quit” (Was Fired From) Transformers 3

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

As the whole world now knows, as of last week, Megan Fox is no longer part of Transformers 3.  What happened? Deadline reported that Paramount decided not to pick up her option, but the decision came from Michael Bay — meaning he effectively fired her.  But then Fox’s publicist went to TheWrap with the story that [...]

Patrick Dempsey Joins Transformers 3 - But for What Role?

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Earlier this month, Grey’s Anatomy’s Patrick Dempsey revealed that he was joining the cast of Transformers 3, which Paramount later confirmed. Originally, Dempsey was set to play Megan Fox’s boss — until certain recent events got in the way.  Of course, it was never even revealed what type of boss he’d be playing, or what job [...]

John Malkovich and Frances McDormand Join Transformers 3

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

The first casting news for Transformers 3 is a bit of a head-scratcher: prestige actors John Malkovich (Burn After Reading) and Frances McDormand (Fargo) have signed on. I guess Michael Bay is trying to emulate the Coen brothers. McDormand will play one of those boring government roles — national security adviser.  Malkovich will play one of Shia [...]

Michael Bay: 3D Conversion “Kind of Sucks”

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Michael Bay has come out against doing Transformers 3 in 3D — but there’s still a possibility Paramount will force it anyway. There are two different ways to do 3D: shoot it with actual 3D cameras, which is what James Cameron did with Avatar, or shoot it in 2D and put the film through a 3D [...]

Will Transformers 3 Go 3D?

Saturday, February 27, 2010

It’s the newest fad, and it seems like Michael Bay is now caught up in it too — 3D. Bay, who once called 3D a “gimmick” (before Avatar came out) recently revealed in an interview on Starz that he’s been testing the process to see if it will work for Transformers 3: It’s a process we’re testing [...]

Transformers 2 Indeed Gunning for An Oscar

Saturday, February 27, 2010

When the Oscar nominations were announced, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen didn’t make the Visual Effects category like I had predicted earlier.  (Avatar, District 9, and Star Trek were the three nominees.)  But it did manage to grab one nomination, for Sound Mixing, which it will compete for at the ceremony on Sunday, March 7th. Unfortunately, [...]

Potential Revenge of the Fallen Oscar Nominations?

Thursday, January 21, 2010

We’re just a week and a half or so away from the announcement of this year’s Oscar nominations, but there’s already some word on which technical awards Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen might have a shot at. It’s one of the seven movies in the running for Best Visual Effects, a category which will eventually have [...]

Transformers 2 Ends Up as #1 for the Year…Sort Of

Thursday, January 21, 2010

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen made the most money out of any movie in the 2009 calendar year.  So that means it’s the #1 movie of the year, right?  Well, sort of. If you’re counting by what made the most money out of any movie released in 2009, Transformers 2 drops down to #2, replaced by [...]

Transformers 2 DVD Special Feature Clip

Empire Online got their hands on a clip from one of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’s special features, a breakdown of the Decepticon attack on a fleet of battleships and aircraft carriers. In the clip, the narrator reveals that they actually did research to check how fast boats of that size can actually sink. Turns [...]

Transformers 2 Gunning for Oscars (?)

Monday, November 30, 2009

Considering Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is one of the worst-reviewed movies of the year (not a judgment, just an observation), it takes a certain amount of sheer nerve to try to get it nominated for Oscars. Not just Visual Effects or Sound Editing, mind you.  It’ll probably be nominated for awards like that.  I’m talking [...]

Transformers 2 on DVD: 2 Million Sold in 24 Hours

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is selling like crazy.  24 hours after its release on October 20th, it had sold a stunning two million copies. That’s good news for Hollywood, where everyone is perpetually worried about falling DVD revenues (memo to Hollywood: it’s because of Blu-Ray, idiots). A week later, the Blu-Ray and both DVD editions — [...]

The Scream Awards were held a couple of weeks ago in L.A., but they’re not airing until tonight.  If you want to catch Megan Fox and Isabel Lucas — both in attendance — check it out on Spike TV at 10 p.m. As we reported the day after the event, Fox won Best Sci-Fi Actress and [...]

How Transformers 2 Should Have Ended

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

The good folks at How it Should Have Ended finally turned their sights on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and the result is a three-minute video featuring a number of alternate scenes and ending possibilities.  I can’t say it’s the funniest HISHE video out there — I’m personally partial to the Superman one and the [...]

Transformers: Bumblebee Out in December

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

The only problem with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen selling two million copies in 24 hours is that it’s October, and it’ll be hard for the holidays to live up to that standard without a huge release like that.  But, of course, Transformers is a franchise, and Hasbro will continue to sell toys and comic [...]
