When the original Transformers was released in 2007, it became the surprise hit of the summer: it opened on a Monday evening, and by the following Sunday it had made $155.4 million dollars. Final tally? $319.2 million. (And that’s the domestic gross alone.)
The reviews were also solid — for a summer movie, anyway. Of all [...]
Fun Fact #1: He’s not quitting Tranformers 3. Despite a flurry of rumors to the contrary, they’re only rumors.
Beyond that, though, one of the keepers of MichaelBay.com posted the following list of cool trivia details about the new movie:
Robots
14 robots last time, 46 robots this time (ILM only)
If you had all the gold ever mined [...]
A new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen clip emerged that features the mini-Transformer Wheelie and some awkward humor of the sort that only Michael Bay can provide. Luckily, it also features Megan Fox. Check it out below.
The lengthy bit of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen footage that screened at ShoWest found its way online last week via a site no less official than MichaelBay.com. Above is a cool screencap from the footage of a Megatron battle — yep, the same Megatron that Bay has been insisting doesn’t appear in the movie. [...]
In the scheme of “rare events”, Michael Bay sounding humble ranks as a lot less common than a solar eclipse and only sightly more common than Halley’s Comet. This is a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence, folks; I’m honored to be reporting on it.
You see, for all his bluster, Bay is still a hired studio hand who’s great [...]
Michael Bay popped up on Twitter the other day with links to new Revenge of the Fallen set pics on MichaelBay.com.
Since he came bearing gifts, everybody assumed he was legit, but then the real Michael Bay revealed the Twitter account (now disabled) to be an impostor by posting the following message on his forums:
Twitter. [...]
The 2009 ShoWest film convention was a big one for Transformers: Michael Bay revealed a death in the movie, won the Vanguard Award for Excellence in Directing (yeah, Michael Bay won a directing award), and even presented a good amount of footage from the new movie.
ComingSoon gives us the play-by-play:
Michael Bay thrilled the packed ballroom [...]
Michael Bay usually tries — and often fails — to keep spoilers from leaking out about his movies, but while talking to MTV at the ShoWest movie convention, he was happy to reveal a death in the upcoming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Who is it? Why, the girl Transformer of course.
“You know what? I didn’t [...]
Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman announced via a forum that they wouldn’t be writing the inevitable third Transformers movie:
“Time for fresh blood!” writes Orci. “The main reason we would move on is because we risk getting stale and comfortable. If you only sing one song for too [...]
Paramount recently announced via Variety that a third Transformers movie would come out on July 1st, 2011, maintaining the two-year break between films. Awesome, right?
Not exactly. Following the news break, Michael Bay posted a retraction of sorts on his own website:
Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 - they asked me on the phone [...]
Michael Bay’s constant battle to keep Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen plot points secret is getting funnier all the time. Thwarting him this week? The official Revenge of the Fallen coloring book, which contains gems like the following (click to enlarge):
See more screencaps here.
Michael Bay should really just give it up. He doesn’t do secrecy well. He’s not J.J. Abrams. His attempts at misinformation are badly delivered, easily refuted, and only make him look stupid.
He announced a while back that Megatron would not appear in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen — and everyone immediately called B.S. after pointing [...]
We told you MTV Spoilers would be airing some behind-the-scenes Revenge of the Fallen footage, but if you didn’t catch it when it aired on Saturday, check it out right here. Nothing groundbreaking, but we do hear from most main cast members. And Michael Bay says “boom” a lot.
Remember when Michael Bay said Megatron definitely wasn’t going to be in Revenge of the Fallen, but toy box art clearly showed he was lying?
Further proof comes from two separate sources this week. The first is from screenwriter Roberto Orci himself, who flatly contradicted Bay by saying on a message board “Megatron returns! Keep it [...]
Michael Bay gave a lengthy red carpet interview to Collider.com at the premiere of Friday the 13th. But even though he produced that movie, Transformers was naturally all he talked about.
When asked how he got permission to shoot at the pyramids, his answer was not humble:
I can kiss ass with the best of them. I [...]
